Not even within 24 hours of moving from MD to NC, I was welcomed with a 1-800-PET-Mobile rear ending my 2004 Toyota Celica while stopped at a red light. The original plan was that in a few months I would be done making car payments on it and I would then begin saving up for my next vehicle. However, that was not in God’s plan for me and instead I ended up needing to buy something else in the meantime. Since we had just moved, making more car payments really was not in the plans but I of course needed transportation for work. With little room in the family budget, I ended up getting a 2011 Toyota Corolla where I knew it would be a reliable car and fairly low monthly payments.
Fast forward 5 years later – I paid off the car early, still drive the damn thing, and even saved up some money for the next car. In Wong tradition, my son Connor will inherit the Corolla when he gets his license this year. Of course that means I will need a replacement daily driver 🎉! My next series of blog posts are going to go through what I did to research what the “perfect” daily driver would be to playing the dealership game (where I am now).
